Showcasing towns
I like my national TV network. Naysayers abstain; there’s content on there that just won’t be found elsewhere. This evening, I watched an episode of Still Standing, which does a decent job of showcasing towns that don’t get much press, otherwise. We were off to Avondale, NL (where I’ve been) and although the train station didn’t get as much time as I might have liked, I now know a lot more about the community. Thank you, Jonny!
This afternoon, a small plane flew by. Not exactly over, but by. Down the way. No big deal, the first time. By the sixth pass, I understood that this was probably a search plane. Not sure for what (have to wait for the news), but the shoreline was evidently part of the game. Hope it was just a training thing.
In medicine, we have a certain amount of common sense. And rules that get made and then not changed. Take that “finish your antibiotics, even if you feel better” idea. Turns out that it’s actually old school and due to be deprecated. The original penicillin man, Alexander Flemming, suggested the strategy, and medical science didn’t revisit the whole thing until quite recently. Now, they’re not so sure. Maybe you don’t need to take all the pills. According to the report, your doctor (should you have one, I don’t) might not be up to date, so you should just go with whatever the pharmacist prints on the little paper glued to the bottle. In my case, I’ll opt for staying as healthy as I can.
