Stared intently into each eye

posted in health |

Hurrah! Two days in a row, in the clinic, on time. The award of a a third date (next week) doesn’t even faze me. In Canada, my health care doesn’t require folding money or insurance that can be revoked because I actually need the coverage. Worth bragging about.

With the pecuniary hurdles out of the way, what actually happened? Well, the doctor stared intently into each of my eyes with the aid of a blinding light. Followed that with a reading test. Didn’t bother him that I couldn’t see anything from one side; binocular vision is fun but hardly necessary to getting from one room to the other in my own home. And I can still read (for now). I’ll accept that. My prescriptions are updated for another season (the pharmacist is rigourous about that, even for eye drops). Well-trained in pharmacy school.

On the way home, we shopped for a fire pit. I don’t understand the attraction, but this isn’t for me. We can buy a custom metal hoop that will keep the ashes from spreading too far into the rest of the lawn. The guy (actually, his wife) has some sort of nifty laser cutter that allows us to customize the hoop with names, star shapes, random seagull silhouettes; whatever we’d like, within reason. Again, I don’t understand…

Meanwhile, back home, I handled one of those “ask Dad” questions. “Who is that band playing outside the hotel?” As backstory, the hotel is ten hours away, by car, and I can’t see/hear the performers. However, Google knows the answer to many, many things. And my dad-rep is maintained.
