Listen to the sound of the voice
I am being pushed to explore new content delivery systems. Yesterday, a new title was released, in paper, ebook and audible formats, which certainly expands my possibilities.
The title: Office Ladies. I think. Written by two ladies from (the cast of) The Office, I find that the title is broad enough to make me dig deeper. I watched The Office, in part because of my own work place, and in part because of the sheer comedy. Now, with the series safely behind them, the authors are ready to walk us through the back story. And I do enjoy a good back story.
I listened to an episude from their podcast. A bit outside my comfort zone, but it might be time to embrace a narrative. The paper edition is beyond my comprehsion, even with a good glass. The ebook is a possible replacement, as is an audible book. All new formats for me, and I will try to mesh their work with my own level of curiosity.
Odd to think that I’ve ignored the spoken word in deference to print, all these years. I do like the sound of my own voice, and adding fake accents was always a distraction. I put that back to high school English, when we had several poems that used a patois. I can hear me, a lifetime later. The poems weren’t improved.
So, now to source an audible book, charge up my headphones and go for an immersion. Will it be painful? We shall se. Maybe I’ll become one of those folks that drive around (are driven around) with the faceless voice of a narrator in my ears.
