But will there be war?

Stuck in the middle of a situation. Today’s  informal study in animal behavior. We have our loaner dog, here. And for the record, dogs and humans share a lot of DNA and a lot of manners for dealing with a potential rival. The bed, the couch, the food bowls; all the same.

Not as simple as counting the drops

For the last fifteen years, I’ve had to deal with the persona hell of medical eye drops. Our eyes are sensitive to things like temperature, pH, a few others I can’t describe but can feel. And, over the last few years, I’ve learned that the pharmaceutical industry has a little secret.

Clean schools for everyone!

If your news is local, this matters: a local school is closed this week, due to infection. Tomorrow, four more will close as a precautionary  measure. That doesn’t leave much wiggle room, in a small area like ours. We’ve been really fortunate (lucky?) until now, but this says that the runup to the holidays just took a turn for the worse.

In the absence of the political class, why bother?

Bend the rules some more

No love lost here over the random nature of the calendar. Well, one calendar. Vax rules are in flux. Earlier this year, we were assured that two shots and you were good to go. Now there’s a certain level of uncertainty, which can mutate into distrust. We learned that a booster might be needed, for the very old. And then we learned that, perhaps, it would be a good idea for seniors in general. Within a week, that moved to anyone over eighteen.

Is it still a parade, if nobody marches?

Following the lead of a classmate (thanks, Bob) I joined a band, (a long time ago). Not what you think; this was a classic English brass ensemble, and we had uniforms.  Spent the autumn going to weekly practice in a small hall, and then prepared for our first public appearance. Not the ban’s; they had been around for a ling time (if I could go by the old, framed photographs  in the hall. Anyhow, there was grumbling about how I  wasn’t wearing high sidewalls, below my uniform cap.

Watch the roads

<!

And with age, comes wisdom. Or experience, at least. This next anecdote is  offered third hand. As in, I wasn’t there, but I heard from someone else.

Call it proof of concept

I call the experiment a “small start’. Or “a humble beginning.” Perhaps a proof concept”. We’’ see, going forward.
