Low tech countermeasures
Looking out across the fields to the water, I missed the obvious. There will be sea ice, sooner or later; I thought I had noticed some this afternoon. Meanwhile, the other coast was in view (apparently). In a straight line, just over sixty kilometers (to a convenient lighthouse). Why that might be important is that we only see the other coast at special times, like just before a storm. Have to be more observant.
