Back under cover, once again
The missing snow returned, overnight. Magical. Not that it matters to me, but one must consider that poor hare, spotted on camera yesterday in the woods at the bottom of the field. The hare was white, the ground was brown, and if the hawk had come by, it would have been traces of red and not much else. This cover should remain, so a few months less of sheer terror for our hare.
In the gleanings from social media, a shout out to borrow a metal detector (we used to call them ine detectors, until mines were less of an issue). In any case, that same snow should keep the missing ring listed as missing for a bit longer.
How many other situations are complicated by snow. It does help people that favor snow shoes or skis to be in their “happy place”. Also, we don’t mow snow, so the big green machine gets a rest on this property. Ditto for the garden beds. We still haven’t required lane clearing. I have a shovel ready for deck scraping.
What else? I don’t dress according to the seasons, except if things turn to Arctic chill, so my Gore-Tex with a liner can stay in the “current wear closet”. Boots? Again, I judge based on the “slippy quotient”. Making snow people isn’t something I do, often. If ever I develop the urge, my skill set acquired back in the last century remain available. I’ll post pictures, etc. Reminder: get some small carrots for such emergencies.
And there you are. Life in the country at the start of the winter. Check back, often, for more details.
