Just another price tag
No need to worry. I will not be coming to visit my US neighbors anytime soon. Turns out that in that big beautiful bill that recently passed there is a small paragraph mentioning ways to extract even more cash from a tourist. The paragraph told me that there is a visa fee about to be levied. Not much. 100 dollars US. Of course if I do not come to visit that money stays in my pocket. By the same logic if I do not come to visit many times I will be rich. I know that is not how it works but it turns out that some of the people in government down there have not got that part figured out. When you believe that all the money in the world really belongs to you you’re doing a favor to the rest of us by collecting it as I go by. Much like that $200 when you pass go in a famous board game. Let me reinforce my belief. If I do not cross the border you do not get that money from me. Seriously what kind of a thought process allows a politician to believe that charging more money will make people more willing to come and see things. The line from a famous movie was that if you build it they will come. At no point did it mention that charging more money to come would make me want to come. Do you see the perverted logic involved here. I will wait to hear the reactions of others. It takes a long while for people to read huge pieces of legislation and this one has just caught the eye of the press. No official launch date has been made but the amount is out there. Gives the rest of us enough time to avoid sticker shock. Or to avoid the fee completely stay home and get rich should be the new model.
