The newest gadget in the gaming world

In a world where criminals are constantly “looking out” for other people’s money, security is the foundation of life on the Internet. How often are we told to protect our identity? To keep our passwords complex and hidden from others? To watch out for anything that seems “not right”? After all, if you leave your valuables in plain view, someone else will be the richer for your error.

New duds and a dud torch parade

It takes that “little shove” (sometimes) to get me moving and doing… yesterday my angst over going shopping was obvious. Today, I went, I bought, I came home. A personal version of that thing Caesar said: veni, vidi, vici. Without the bloodshed or need to build roads and march in step for miles.

Fire in the drill hall

The ancients (meaning anyone over 30 according to certain among us) believed that the world was composed of four elements: earth, air, water and fire. Any one of these can be beneficial or damaging. Last night, one of the “landmarks” (in a city composed from hundreds) was destroyed by fire. From which springs the question: is a city composed of its elements?

The impossible illusion of the nacho

This weekend was more than a Superbowl Sunday. With sub-zero weather and no urge to watch network TV, I was off to the video store for a shopping trip. In the same mood as a hungry person going grocery shopping, I was content to take whatever looked yummy, without any attention to nutritional values. Here is my reaction to a triple-whammy sundae on Sunday.

The agony of the cache

Sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. The situation where we have just enough of the facts to get the story straight most of the time, but where we are sometimes “bitten” by things that should never have been dredged up from the past. Have I flagged your interest yet?

Summer music

I have CBC radio on this evening, and the Randy Bachman show, Randy’s Vinyl Tap is presenting a mix of “summer tunes”. The man not only plays a mean guitar when he wants to, he also has access to a decent musical library. I mean, Mungo Gerry. Van Halen. Burton Cummings (a bit of a self-serving cheat, but I forgive the you rub my back, I’ll rub yours model this time).
