Putting the Pi to use

After some pointed searching among the “not yet unpacked” boxes, I finally struck gold. Or Pi. Depends on your point of view. I have a number of tech projects that were put on hold, months ago. Waiting to move and all that. I’m now ready to apply my theory to practice.

Avoidance of concerts

The high season of concerts is underway. Based on the posters, I could keep my social calendar full; somebody different almost every day. And yet, I have little urge to join the throngs.

A wet dryer

In a “what have I done” moment, I finally connected the water supply hose to the clothes dryer. Not sure what happens next; as long as the result doesn’t involve electrocution (or an extra suds cycle), it should be OK.

Distant cousins

Tourists; the greater the distance, the more interesting the scenery. At least, if we base the pictures revealed this morning by a long distance voyager. The mission to fly by Pluto is starting to send back images, and I am surprised…

Down the rabbit hole, so to speak

Some projects are never finished. Thankfully, not all of them… I knocked a couple of the smaller ones of my to-do list today, and I’ll sleep better because of that.

The weather is fine

Sleeping in qualifies as “highly overrated”. There’s always something else going on, here in the country. Just this morning, the dog alarm went off about the time that I might have fallen asleep in other times/other climes. The contractor sent his man to do (some of ) the railings, and fix (maybe) the basement windows. I’ve learned to be hopefully enthusiastic.

In the end, the legs were too long

A special thanks to the fellow on speakerphone this evening. We called him, across a long haul, and he tried his best to get up through a traumatic time. Today, I decided to get more of the famous Murphy bed completed; the piles of pieces were depressing. And slowly, page by page, I worked through the schematics until I could do no more on my own.

Bed builder

School opened this morning, for one member of the household. Over the next two weeks, a conservative calculation shows eighty hours of instructional time. This is the same model as one year ago, when the dog and I were sequestered in a city hotel. This time around, we’re country bound.

Solving the puzzle

Getting up early, because I didn’t want to appear too lackadaisical when a contractor stopped by, was a wasted effort. No show, today. There’s always tomorrow, right?

Ikea wins

Make all the jokes you want. There are worse things than Ikea, when it comes to reassembled furniture. I’ve had a big job waiting for weeks; assemble a room full of Murphy bed and friends.
